14 Players On Chiefs First Injury Report

A miserable 2-12 season has left the Kansas City Chiefs battered both mentally and physically. Their first injury report for Sunday’s game with the Indianapolis Colts includes 14 players, including nine starters.

One of the starters listed — Brady Quinn — should be benched no matter his injury status, but in this case head coach Romeo Crennel is sticking with the inept quarterback after he was a full participant with a rib injury.

Other starters that were able to fully participate and should be good to go this weekend were Jon Asamoah and Eric Berry.

More worrisome for Crennel (if anything can be more troubling that relying on Quinn) is the status of Javier Arenas, Jon Baldwin, Ryan Lilja, and Tony Moeaki who were all unable to practice, putting their availability this weekend in doubt.

Moeaki could have another concussion, something he’s already had issues with during his young NFL career. If the Chiefs still think the tight end can be a part of this team for the long term, they shouldn’t take any chances by trying to push him the final two weeks of the season.

The Colts injury report nearly rivals the Chiefs with 12 players, headlined by star rookie quarterback Andrew Luck. Fans in Kansas City shouldn’t get excited about potentially seeing Indy’s backup, Luck was a full participant and will play Sunday. The Colts did have seven players unable to practice, including Dwight Freeney.
