With the 55th pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, the Kansas City Chiefs selected OL Rodney Hudson from Florida State.
Scouts Inc. assigned a rating of 83 to Hudson and ranked him as the 2nd center.
You can check out his school profile here.
Not a sexy pick, but Hudson is a perfect building block for an aging Kansas City interior offensive line. He was one of the best offensive linemen available in the draft and Pioli grabs him near the end of the second round. Hard to argue with this one.
After steering away from the “Right 53” thinking with Jonathan Baldwin in the first round, we are back to a very familiar resume. Hudson started all four years at Florida State, was All-ACC four times and was honored for his work in the classroom. Also a star away from school, having worked nights at KFC to support his family after they were displaced by Hurricane Katrina in high school
If needed, Hudson can play next year at guard, center or sit a season until there is a need.
