What could go down as the craziest NFL Draft in history is just hours away and the experts are still trying to figure out just where teams will go with their selections. Much like Mel Kiper and Mike Mayock, Scouts Inc. is projecting that the Kansas City Chiefs will select an offensive lineman, but none of the three agree on the player.
Nate Solder, OT, Colorado
Solder needs some refining but would still offer an upgrade at right tackle for a team that led the NFL in rushing last season.
Hard not to be impressed with Solder. He is absolutely massive at 6’8″, 320 and was on the field for every offensive snap for Colorado last season. The co-captain and team MVP has the potential to be the best tackle in this year’s draft.
The reason you would be able to get a guy like this at 21 is exactly what Scouts Inc. touched on, he is still a bit of a project. He can play now, but you aren’t going to start seeing real results until he is given a full year of playing time at the NFL level.
I’d still prefer the safer pick of Carimi, but it would be hard to argue if Scott Pioli came away from the first round with Solder.
