Primetime Has Treated Chiefs Well Over The Years

The Kansas City Chiefs were rewarded for their AFC West championship with three regular season primetime games by the NFL.  Over on the official site, Josh Looney went back in history and found that the Chiefs have an impressive record (47-26) in primetime showdowns.

SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL
Record: 9-4 (.692)

MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL
Record: 21-15 (.583)

THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL
Record: 5-2 (.714)

FRIDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL
Record: 3-4 (.429)

SATURDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL
Record: 9-1 (.900)

Some great historical nuggets in there, especially on the Friday night games.  I had forgotten that the Chiefs had even made an appearance that wasn’t Sunday, Monday Thursday or Saturday.

It’s too bad the Chiefs aren’t playing on Sunday or Thursday, two nights they have been dominant.

As we talked about after the schedule was released, it’s possible Kansas City will see at least one more Sunday night game with their final four games all being “flexworthy”: Jets, Packers, Raiders and Broncos.
