2012 NFL Draft: Kansas City Chiefs Select Jerome Long, DT, San Diego State

With the 218th pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, the Kansas City Chiefs selected DT Jerome Long from San Diego State.

Scouts Inc. assigned a rating of 30 to Long and ranked him as 73rd best defensive tackle.

He will have a hard time getting reps on the Chiefs defensive line, something that will be a new experience for the 285 pound Long. He played in all but one game during his time with the Aztecs, earning defensive lineman of the year during his last season.

Long did have a nose for the QB as a senior, ranking second on the team in sacks. With DE Wallace Gilberry’s snaps up for grabs, Long could have a chance to fight for some of those as he tries to hold onto a roster spot in training camp.
