The NFL announced Wednesday Kansas City Chiefs K Ryan Succop has been named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week for the second time this season. He also earned the honor in Week 4 when he helped the Chiefs earn their first win of the season.
Succop has been on an amazing run since starting out the season hitting on just one of his first four field goal attempts. He has connected on 21 consecutive field goals, tying him for the second longest streak in franchise history. Succop needs to extend the streak by two in order to break the record.
All of the attempts for Succop during his streak haven’t exactly been chip shots. 10 of the 21 field goals have been over 40 yards with three of them beyond 50 yards.
With the Kansas City offense proving unable to find the end zone for much of the season, Succop has been the one providing the majority of the team’s points.
