Kansas City Chiefs QB Alex Smith had just thrown a fourth quarter interception that could have sealed the fate of Team Rice at Sunday night’s Pro Bowl. The turnover gave the ball back to Team Sanders with a 21-14 lead and just 2:17 left in the game.
Smith would get another chance after a Team Sanders punt. And he’d get set up perfectly by his Chiefs teammate Dexter McCluster on the return when he scampered 26 yards to the Team Rice 42 yard line.
24 and 14 yard completions to Josh Gordon and Alshon Jeffery set the stage for a game changing play by Smith. He hit DeMarco Murry for a 20 yard touchdown to bring Team Rice within a point.
Instead of tying things up, Smith and the Rice offense opted for the two-point conversion and picked up the clinching points with a Mike Tolbert run.
