When the Kansas City Chiefs agreed to terms with first-round pick Eric Berry, they made history according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Hail to the Chief (and the highest-paid safety in NFL history): Eric Berry’s deal: 6 years, $60 million max, including $34 million gtd.
Easy to see why this deal got done. Berry’s max with his deal is identical to the man taken one spot before him in April’s draft, OT Trent Williams. He also will be guaranteed only $2.75 million less.
Now it’s time for Berry to step into the Chiefs defense and show why he is the highest paid player at his position. Oh, and I think it’s safe to say the drinks are on Berry when the team goes out in St. Joe tonight.
