Bowe And McCluster Shine; Croyle Hurt

The Kansas City Chiefs were back on the field today for another OTA and the early reports from The Star’s Kent Babb and KCChiefs.com’s Josh Looney are shining a (mostly) positive light on the offense.

Babb took note of rookie Dexter McCluster, while Looney has news on Dwayne Bowe and Brodie Croyle.

Dexter McCluster continues to be impressive.  He just caught a post route in 11-on-11 and outran all defenders for a TD.

D-Bowe w/ nice day and 2 red zone TDs and Croyle leaves early after hitting his finger on helmet.

I have a feeling that during training camp we are going to hear daily about McCluster turning in a highlight-reel play.  He just has that special sort of explosiveness that the Chiefs haven’t had in quite some time.  During the season Jamaal Charles delivered plenty of those type of plays, but during training camp he was struggling with his fumbling while buried behind Larry Johnson.

Bowe needed to have a good day after “Importing-Gate”, even if it’s a couple of touchdowns during non-contact drills.

We’ll have to wait on Croyle’s injury, but if he broke a finger on his throwing hand that immediately gives a huge opportunity to third string QB Matt Gutierrez.  Pioli and Haley have shown they like him and Croyle being out for any extended period of OTAs or training camp would provide Gutierrez a whole lot of snaps to show off his arm.
