For the third straight week, the Kansas City Chiefs are in a unique position when it comes to the oddsmakers in Vegas.
It was just two weeks back the Chiefs found themselves as the first team since 1990 to be underdogs (by any amount) with a record of 9-0 or better. Then last week they returned home and found themselves favored over the San Diego Chargers for the first time in nearly a decade.
Andy Reid & Co. are playing at Arrowhead Stadium again this week, but this time they are 5 point underdogs to the Broncos.
How do the Chiefs perform at home as underdogs? No one knows because it’s the first time all season they’ve been home dogs. For Denver’s part, they are 2-3 against the spread as road favorites.
The Chiefs lost linebackers Tamba Hali and Justin Houston to injuries last week and getting either player in uniform would go a long way towards putting Kansas City in a position for the upset. Right now it sounds like Houston will miss at least a week, but Hali has said he’ll play. Obviously the trainers and coaching staff may feel differently as we get closer to kick off.
With the Chiefs having chances to take out the Broncos in Denver and Peyton Manning now needing to deal with the Arrowhead crowd, I like the home team.
