When the Kansas City Chiefs visit the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, they will be facing a team playing with heavy hearts. DT Marcell Dareus’ brother was murdered along with two other Sunday in Alabama, according to a report.
Dareus’s brother, 19-year-old Simeon Gilmore, was shot to death at a home in Pelham. A 20-year-old man was charged with the murder, but the police have not said what the motive for the horrific crime may have been.
The second-year player is said to be headed back to Alabama so he can be with his family and it’s unknown if he will be able to play in Sunday afternoon’s game. Certainly no one would be surprised if Dareus stayed with his family during this difficult time. Our thoughts are with him and his family as they deal with this tragedy.
Dareus played in all 16 games (15 starts) for the Bills as a rookie, tallying 43 tackles and 5.5 sacks. He had one tackle in Buffalo’s loss to the New York Jets last week.
Dareus was a teammate of Chiefs CB Javier Arenas for two years at Alabama.
