Then Hoyer went down with a torn ACL, the job went back to Weeden and the Browns have lost back-to-back games to the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions. Now Cleveland head coach Rob Chudzinski is turning to veteran Jason Campbell.
Having spent time with the Oakland Raiders, Campbell is familiar with the Chiefs. In fact, he is undefeated at Arrowhead Stadium!
Okay, that’s a true statement, but also wholly misleading. Yes, Campbell is perfect in Kansas City, but that’s in large part because he’s only played in front of the Sea of Red once.
That one trip to Arrowhead was all the way back during Week 17 in the 2010 season, while the Chiefs were preparing for a trip to the playoffs. That was a 31-10 dismantling of the AFC West champions and finished a season sweep of Kansas City, accounting for two of the Chiefs six losses.
Even though the Chiefs won the division, I think most fans would agree Arrowhead still didn’t have the sort of juice we’ve seen so far this season. Campbell also didn’t set the world on fire during his only game in Kansas City, completing 15 of 25 passes for 155 yards and a touchdown.
Campbell faced the Chiefs one other time besides the 2010 season sweep. That was Week 6 back in 2009 when he lost 16-9 and had just 89 yards on 9 for 16 passing with an interception and no touchdowns.
