The Kansas City Chiefs have released their seven gameday inactives for Sunday’s matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Raymond James Stadium. There were already four players ruled out, so there aren’t a lot of surprises.
QB Matt Cassel, DE Glenn Dorsey, S Tysyn Hartman, RB Peyton Hillis, , LB Bryan Kehl, C Bryan Mattison, WR Devon Wylie
Cassel, Dorsey, Hillis and Wylie were the four we knew would not be suting up against the Bucs. The other three players are actually new to the Chiefs inactive list.
The ability for starting safety Kendrick Lewis to play for the first time all season has pushed the rookie Hartman to the inactive list for the first time.
Another player active for the first time in 2012 is second-year QB Ricky Stanzi. Cassel’s injury has elevated him to the No. 2 spot and considering how shaky new starter Brady Quinn has been throughout his career, we may just get a chance to see Stanzi sooner rather than later.
The Chiefs had four “questionable” players — WR Jon Baldwin, WR Terrance Copper, RB Cyrus Gray and DE Ropati Pitoitua — and they will all suit up for Romeo Crennel Sunday afternoon.
Pitoitua is Dorsey’s backup and his absence last week left Kansas City short on defensive ends, but he’s primed to get back on the field and in the starting lineup. Getting some depth back along the defensive line is a big bonus for Crennel.
