Concussion Lands Dwayne Bowe On Chiefs Injury Report

We still don’t know just how much the Kansas City Chiefs starters will play Sunday in the regular season finale against the San Diego Chargers. But there are two players we know aren’t likely to suit up at all.

Linebacker Tamba Hali missed a second straight practice Thursday with a sore knee and has to be considered a long shot to see any snaps.

Another key player likely to sit out is wide receiver Dwayne Bowe. He wasn’t on the Chiefs initial injury report for the week, but was added Thursday with a concussion. He was on the receiving end of flagged hit to his neck while he was on the ground in last week’s loss to the Indianapolis Colts.

It can be debated how important it is for healthy players to get out there this weekend, but we should all be able to agree that Hali and Bowe shouldn’t be anywhere near San Diego.

The other seven players on the Kansas City injury report were all full participants for the second straight day and should be good to go. The most interesting names are left tackle Branden Albert, linebacker Justin Houston and kicker Ryan Succop.

Houston and Albert have missed the last four and three games, respectively, and look to be back near 100%. Succop, meanwhile, hasn’t missed any time this year, but is nursing a sore groin.

Holding out Houston and Albert for another game wouldn’t be a huge deal, but holding out Succop would mean signing a kicker off the street. Is it worth making that roster move for a couple days to guarantee Succop is ready to roll for the playoffs?

Andy Reid and his staff have to make those decisions over the next few days. If it were me, the Chiefs inactive list Sunday would look like a who’s who of this year’s best players and those starters that dressed would play as little as possible.
