Charlie Weis On The Way To KC?

Last weekend, Kansas City was called “a likely landing spot” for Charlie Weis.  Now that the coaching carousel is starting to spin more reports are supporting that idea.

Amid speculation that former Notre Dame coach Charlie Weis could be headed to Chicago to replace fired offensive coordinator Ron Turner, a league source said that Weis actually might be bound for Kansas City.  Weis has spoken with the Chiefs multiple times since being fired Nov. 30 after losing four in a row to finish 6-6 in 2009 and 35-27 over five seasons.

The Chicago rumors make sense because of it’s proximity to South Bend, but it wouldn’t appease Bears QB Jay Cutler and as we’ve seen, you wouldn’t like Jay Cutler when he’s angry.  To make the former-Bronco happy, Chicago is more likely to do everything they can to get USC offensive coordinator Jeremy Bates.

Weis is a proven winner at this level, so it’s hard to be anything but happy if Todd Haley and Scott Pioli bring him into the fold.  I just can’t wrap my head around Haley handing play-calling duties over, especially after the lengths he went to this past season to put the decision making in his hands.
