Chiefs Add Kendrick Lewis To Injury Report

The Kansas City Chiefs already had three defensive backs on their injury report Wednesday, but added a fourth after their second full practice in preparation of Sunday’s game against the Denver Broncos on Thursday.

Non-Participant
Jackie Bates (knee)

Limited Participant
Kendrick Lewis (ankle)
Ryan Lilja (foot)
Brandon Flowers (hamstring)

Full Participant
Jon McGraw (head)

Considering the trouble that the Chiefs have had in their secondary lately to go along with the Broncos prolific passing game, it’s scary to think what things would look like without Flowers and Lewis.  We all know how good Flowers is, but Lewis is vital to the defense even as a rookie.

As Josh Looney points out, Kansas City didn’t have Lewis for the Chiefs embarassing loss to Denver three weeks ago and are actually 7-1 with the rookie healthy and 0-3 when he’s out of the lineup.  So while all eyes will be on Flowers, don’t lose sight of how important it will be to keep Lewis on the field.
