The 2010 Organized Team Activity (OTA) schedules for each team were released yesterday, with the Chiefs kicking things off on May 17th and wrapping up on June 15th.
Each of the teams are permitted to conduct up to 14 OTA sessions as part of their offseason workout programs. In addition, clubs may conduct one mandatory veteran minicamp. Teams that hired a new head coach may hold two additional voluntary minicamps. The schedule of minicamps will be announced later this month.
In Kansas City, mini-camps typically occur the weekend after the draft (rookie camp) and in the first or second weekend of June (mandatory mini-camp). None of the pre-training camp workouts were made open to the public last year, but all training camp practices will open for public attendance in St. Joseph this summer.
Chiefs OTA Dates: May 17-19, May 24-25, May 27, June 1-3, June 7-9, June 14-15
The most important thing we will get out of the OTA sessions is see which players stayed on the “Hellacious Haley” conditioning program and which ones decided to use training camp as their opportunity to get in shape.
It’s also nice to get a look at the rookies (that are allowed to attend) before things kick off in St. Joe.
