After sitting on their hands for most of the first full day of free agency, the Kansas City Chiefs have signed their first free agent. Though it’s not one fans have been waiting to hear.
Battle has played in 17 games with Kansas City (2007-09). He owns 21 carries for 68 yards with a TD, in addition to 10 special teams tackles. He played in five contests for the Chiefs in 2009 before being placed on injured reserve. He originally entered the NFL as a rookie free agent with Dallas in 2007.
Not exactly the name most people around the Chiefs were hoping for as the first player signed, but I’m trying to tell myself that the offseason is a marathon not a sprint. We’ve heard Kansas City involved with Anquan Boldin and potentially Thomas Jones, so they are at least dipping their foot in the pool (even if it’s just a little).
