The Kansas City Chiefs have released their list of seven inactive players for Sunday’s game against the Denver Broncos at Arrowhead Stadium. The biggest names involved are the ones not included: CB Javier Areans and S Jon McGraw.
DL Brandon Bair, TE Anthony Becht, OL Steve Maneri, NT Jerrell Powe, QB Ricky Stanzi, WR Jerheme Urban, LB Demorrio Williams
After missing last week’s debacle against the Miami Dolphins, it’s big to have both Arenas and McGraw back on the field. Obviously they both help with the depth at corner and safety, but it also allow guys like Donald Washington and Jalil Brown to keep their focus on special teams. Don’t underestimate how much it hurt coverage units when you have younger players that aren’t used to pulling double duty all of a sudden staying on the field more.
Coming down from the active roster from last week are Williams — out with a groin injury after not practicing all week — and Becht — a healthy scratch. It’s mildly surprising to see the veteran Becht once again inactive because he is a better blocker than fellow TE Jake O’Connell. Maybe a sign the Chiefs are going to be passing more than normal this afternoon.
