Just a few days after team president Denny Thum resigned, the Kansas City Chiefs continued to shuffle their front office by naming Dan Crumb as the team’s new Chief Financial Officer. Crumb was most recently with the New Orleans Hornets.
“We are very excited to welcome Dan to the Chiefs,” said Chiefs Chairman and CEO Clark Hunt. “Dan has a proven track record of success as a financial officer, and his leadership and experience make him a key addition to our business operations.”
Crumb will lead the finance and information technology departments for the Chiefs, reporting to Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Mark Donovan.
“I would like to thank the Hunt family for this wonderful opportunity,” said Crumb. “I am eager to work with every member of the Chiefs organization and begin our involvement with the team’s many philanthropic efforts in Kansas City.”
I’m not watching the actions of every team’s front office, but this seems like an awfully odd time to have this many moving parts. Aren’t these the type of moves that are best to be made back before training camp kicks off?
Either way, Crumb comes to Kansas City with a great resume from his time in New Orleans. Anyone that can help a franchise bounce back the way he did with the Hornets after Hurricane Katrina is someone I want steering my ship.
