The Kansas City Chiefs tweaked their practice squad on Tuesday when they terminated the contract of LB Darin Drakeford.
The rookie from Maryland joined the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent and was released as part of final cuts. Drakeford was added to the Kansas City practice squad immediately and had been there through the first four weeks of the season.
With Drakeford’s release, the Chiefs now have an open spot on the practice squad. It could be used to bring in one of the two tight ends worked out in Kansas City this week.
It shouldn’t come as a surprise if we see Drakeford back on the practice squad over the next few weeks. We’ve already seen multiple players bounce around between the practice squad and active roster and Drakeford could do the same, especially if this is just a necessary move to have enough healthy tight ends for practice.
