The Kansas City Chiefs have announced that they only have two players listed as inactive for tonight’s game against the Eagles: CB Maurice Leggett and G Darryl Harris.
Leggett suffered a head/neck injury last weekend against Tampa Bay and left the game on a stretcher. He re-joined his teammates on Wednesday, but did not practice. The Chiefs are hopeful that Leggett will return to action “sooner, rather than later.”
Harris was injured (leg) during the first week of training camp practices in St. Joseph. He has not practiced with the team since Thursday, August 5th.
Ryan O’Callaghan, the Chiefs projected starter at right tackle, left practice on Tuesday morning with a leg injury as well. He hasn’t practiced since suffering that injury, but has not been ruled out for this evening’s game.
Very interesting that O’Callaghan is going to try and give it a go. However, don’t take that to mean he is going to be able to put in a full night’s work along with the rest of the starting offensive line. As we saw last week with Tony Moeaki — who was in on the first play of the game and then disappeared — being dressed doesn’t mean being active when you are in the preseason and don’t have to deal with roster limits.
Even if O’Callaghan is able to play, there is still going to be plenty to watch when it comes to Barry Richardson, Colin Brown and Ike Ndukwe as they battle not only for the backup spot but for their roster lives.
