The Kansas City Chiefs will be without their best cornerback, Brandon Flowers, against the high-powered aerial assault of the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday afternoon at Arrowhead Stadium. Flowers highlights the Chiefs list of seven inactive players.

Flowers missed all of the preseason and was officially listed as “questionable” on the Chiefs final injury report of the week, but still seemed to be like a good bet to take the field on Sunday. With the Falcons rolling out two top flight receivers in Roddy White and Julio Jones, Romeo Crennel’s defense will be relying heavily on Stanford Routt and Jacques Reeves (his first NFL action since 2009).
Crennel will likely need to have an extra defensive back on the field for most of the game to try and help out a battered secondary, which should open things up for the Falcons running backs. Not only do they have veteran Michael Turner, but also the explosive Jacquizz Rodgers.
It shouldn’t be forgotten that Flowers isn’t the only star the Chiefs will be without on defense. Tamba Hali will also be missing, sitting out one game due to a league suspension.
The one positive you can take away from the Chiefs inactive list is both Derrick Johnson and Jovan Belcher are active and will start. Kansas City will need all they help they can get on defense to try and keep up with the Atlanta offense.
