Chiefs Hope “Coincidence” Brings Moeaki Award

The Kansas City Chiefs already own half of the NFL Rookie of the Week awards given out this season when Dexter McCluster took home the honor after Week 1.  After his amazing catch against the 49ers, Tony Moeaki has a chance to make it two out of three.  Not surprisingly, the tight end is downplaying the circus catch.

“Matt threw a really good ball,” Moeaki said.  “I didn’t go into that play trying to make a one-handed catch.  It was just kind of coincidence.”

The catch headlined SportCenter’s Top Ten list.  Unfortunately, the slow-motion footage and multiple camera angles of the catch isn’t something that he’s been able to see yet.

“I saw it upstairs on the TVs, but I haven’t set up cable yet,” Moeaki said . “My friends and family tend to keep me updated on that stuff.”

The only thing more incredible than his catch is that Moeaki doesn’t have cable.  I’m pretty sure that any number of cable or satellite providers would be happy to get him setup any time.

You can vote for Moeaki right now on NFL.com.  Even though he had the most impressive play of the week, it will be tough for the Chiefs tight end to take home the award due to some stiff competition.  Make sure you cast your vote for Moeaki.

If you still haven’t seen the one handed grab, you can see it below.
