The move by Niners GM Trent Baalke to ship out Jenkins for the almost as disappointing Jon Baldwin took some of the San Francisco players by surprise.
Fellow WR Kyle Williams said the news about his “little brother” hit him “like a brick wall”.
“It’s a little shock because, to us, that’s family going out the door,” Williams said, according to the Bay Area News Group. “It’s not a sigh of relief over here. I hate seeing him go.”
Another Niners receiver, Chad Hall, is bummed to be losing his friend as a teammate, but as someone that’s played under Andy Reid he knows this move could be huge for Jenkins.
“I told him, ‘You’re in good hands and keep up fighting,’ ” Hall said.
Now we will get to see how quickly those good hands can turn Jenkins into a serviceable NFL player, something he hasn’t been so far early on in his career.
