The Kansas City Chiefs have released their list of seven inactive players for today’s game against the undefeated Green Bay Packers at Arrowhead Stadium. One player that is no longer on the list is QB Kyle Orton, who will make his Chiefs starting debut.
DL Brandon Bair, S Jon McGraw, OL David Mims, TE Jake O’Connell, QB Tyler Palko, NT Jerrell Powe, WR Jerheme Urban
Though it should go without saying, the Chiefs will need Orton’s day to last longer than one play this week. The only real chance (no matter how small) of pulling off the upset will be to throw the ball all over the field. Orton nearly threw for 300 yards earlier in the season against the Packers (though with three interceptions) and will need to repeat that minus the turnovers.
Leaving just two QBs active – Orton and rookie Ricky Stanzi — is a little surprising considering the finger injury Orton has been dealing with. This should show how little Crennel is worried about the injury setting him back.
It’s interesting to see Urban inactive and Jeremy Horne taking his place. Former head coach Todd Haley had kept Urban as a safety blanket for Palko, who he played with on the scout team.
With just two tight ends on the active roster, look for the Chiefs to open things up and toss the ball around to field to try and take advantage of one of the few Green Bay weaknesses.
