The Kansas Chiefs have promoted wide receiver Quinten Lawrence from their practice squad to the 53-man roster for Sunday’s game against the San Diego Chargers.
The team had an open roster spot after putting DB Maurice Leggett on injured reserve.
Lawrence was part of the 2009 draft class, selected in the sixth round out of McNeese State. He played in the Chiefs first two games this season, rushing one time for 16 yards and returned one kickoff for 17 yards. The team waived him on October 24th and assigned him to the practice squad two days later.
I’d love to see Lawrence get some playing time to see if he can take a step forward and be ready to really contribute next season.
With that being said, why not a safety? When Leggett was put on IR, I assumed that Ricky Price would get the call from the practice squad. The team needs help at safety and he is practicing every day so he can step in Sunday and help immediately.
