Teams cannot start signing players for a few more weeks, but starting today they can trim their rosters. The Chiefs did just that when they released two linebackers, Wes Dacus and Justin Rogers.
Dacus spent the 2009 season on injured reserve with Kansas City. He saw duty in eight games for the Chiefs in 2008 after joining the club as a rookie free agent from Arkansas.
Rogers joined the Chiefs as a free agent on two separate occasions in 2009, most recently on November 11th. He played in one game for the Chiefs prior to landing on injured reserve with a thigh injury December 26th. The SMU product played in 31 contests with Dallas (2007-08) before joining the Chiefs.
This is the beginning of what should be a very active offseason for Scott Pioli and the Kansas City Chiefs.
The only question that remains is if their moves will involve smaller names like Dacus and Rogers or bigger ticket items that are available via trades and free agency.
