With a one game lead in the AFC West and the team trailing them — the Chargers — owning the tie-breaker, the Kansas City Chiefs return home for two more “must win” games against the Tennessee Titans and Oakland Raiders. The Chiefs are no doubt confident after their 27-13 victory over the St. Louis Rams and that confidence has rubbed off on the oddsmakers in Vegas.
The Chiefs are currently favored over the Titans by 5 points.
Last week Kansas City found themselves as small underdogs thanks to the uncertainty of Matt Cassel’s status. As we know, Cassel ended up laying and the point spread never came into play in the Edward Jones Dome.
This Sunday the Chiefs are favored just as much for their undefeated record at home as they are because of the Titans ineptitude. After starting the season 5-2, including wins over the Jaguars, Giants and Eagles, Tennessee lost six games in a row before finally winning last week against the equally-troubled Houston Texans. The last game the Titans won on the road was back on October 18th in Jacksonville.
Considering how much the Titans have struggled lately and the Chiefs dominance at home, this number seems awfully low. Especially after seeing Cassel come back so strong last week on the road, it’s hard to figure why this isn’t at least at least a 7.5 point game.
Assuming that Cassel is back out on the practice field Wednesday and doesn’t suffer an unexpected setback, there’s a good chance that this line will climb up closer to that 7.5 number.
