Chiefs Set To Interview Dirk Koetter

First up to interview for the Kansas City Chiefs head coaching gig is Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter. According to Alex Marvez, Koetter will meet with the Chiefs, Cleveland Browns and Philadelphia Eagles during the Falcons playoff bye week.

Before leading the Falcons offense to the No. 1 seed in the NFC, he held the same job with the Jacksonville Jaguars for five seasons after serving as head coach in the collegiate ranks with Arizona State and Boise State.

Koetter would clearly help jump start an offense that had no direction this past season, but would hardly fit the bill of a coach worthy of helping to decide the fate of GM Scott Pioli. Especially when you consider he was hired in Atlanta by Pioli’s good friend Thomas Dimitroff.

There’s no doubt in my mind Koetter can be a good head coach for someone in the league, but he would be the wrong choice for the Chiefs.
