The Kansas City Chiefs added a wide receiver to their practice squad Tuesday, according to Aaron Wilson, signing Jheranie Boyd.
The rookie out of North Carolina has moved around more than most in such a short amount of time. After starting out with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Boyd spent the preseason with the Cincinnati Bengals before heading to Canada for a stint on the practice squad of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
Boyd spent four years at UNC, where he didn’t post huge numbers, catching 44 passes for 860 yards, including 13 touchdowns. A leg injury as a senior limited him to just four catches.
At 6-1, 187 with 4.43 speed, the rookie brings a solid size-speed combination to the Chiefs. If he can stick through the final weeks of the season, Boyd could have a guaranteed home for the offseason.
