While you were out celebrating New Year’s Eve, the Kansas City Chiefs announced they were placing RB Jackie Battle on injured reserve with a foot injury and replacing him on the active roster with RB Shaun Draughn.
Draughn has been on the Chiefs practice squad since the first week of October. When he came to Kansas City, it was the first move at running back — and ended up being the only — after Jamaal Charles was lost for the season with a knee injury. He spent training camp with the Washington Redskins before getting released during final cuts.
With the Redskins, Draughn carried the ball 11 times for 19 yards and no touchdowns for a 1.7 yards per carry average. Being placed on the Chiefs 53-man roster all but assures the undrafted rookie from North Carolina a trip to Kansas City training camp next season.
