The Kansas City Chiefs have reportedly agreed to terms with undrafted free agent LB Amara Kamara from Temple.
Scouts Inc. assigned a rating of 30 to Kamara and ranked him as the 51st OLB.
You can see his Temple profile here.
The Chiefs had a lot of luck with Jovan Belcher, another small school prospect, so it makes sense to give Kamara a look. Though there is some confusing reporting regarding his numbers during Kamara’s senior season, the four-year starter officially registered 67 tackles last year, good for fourth on the Owls. At 6-feet and 238 pounds, he’s just an inch shorter than Belcher (though the Chiefs generously list their incumbent ILB at 6-2).
His 4.72 40-yard dash at the Temple pro day would have been good for 13th at the NFL combine.
Kamara is a team captain that has always been solid, but never spectacular. Stout against the run and good in coverage but only three career sacks at Temple, look for the Chiefs to shift him inside. That is, if he ever hits the field for Romeo Crennel. The roster longshot (like his fellow UDFAs) will need to make a name for himself on special teams.
