The Kansas City Chiefs have signed undrafted free agent OL Butch Lewis from USC.
You can see his USC profile here.
A diamond in the rough? Lewis played in 46 games during his four year career, but only 24 of those where starts.
Lewis, like most of the players that are recruited by USC, was a high school All-American, but unlike many of his teammates never fully reached his potential at the college level. He dealt with injuries to his ankle, hip and thigh over the years, which seemed to hamper his development.
The 6-foot-5, 312 pound Lewis does possess the type of versatility that Todd Haley and Scott Pioli love. He started at both guard and tackle at USC and while he wasn’t invited to the NFL combine, he posted an impressive 5.11 40 time at his pro day, which would have been sixth best in Indy.
