The Chiefs have signed undrafted free agent WR Rich Gunnell from Boston College.
Scouts Inc. assigned a rating of 30 to Gunnell and ranked him as the 70th WR.
You can check out his Boston College profile here.
Gunnell was an offensive captain, the first wide receiver to hold that honor at Boston College since 1990. He started all 13 games, was an All-ACC honorable mention selection and named team MVP. Led the team with 60 catches, 880 yards, 7 touchdowns and average yards per game (67.7). Served as Boston College’s primary punt returner, averaging 13.7 yards per return including a 56-yard return for at touchdown.
Holds the career receiving yards record with 2,459, breaking the record that was held by Pete Mitchell (91-94). Also ranks second in career receptions and fourth in receiving touchdowns.
Unlike the other WR they signed after the draft — Jeremy Horne — Gunnell is a big time performer from a solid conference. He is a little undersized at 5-10 but his production and where he did it cannot be ignored.
