The Kansas City Chiefs announced on Saturday that they have signed free-agent WR Zeke Markshausen. He played his college ball at Northwestern, where he was a true “Rudy-esque” story.
After walking on to the Wildcats, he was mostly relegated to scout team as he only caught one pass over his first three seasons. However, during his final year at Northwestern, Markshausen put up one of the most impressive seasons by a wide receiver that the school has ever seen by catching 91 passes for 858 yards.
Markshausen spent time with the Chicago Bears in their mini-camp last season and training camp before being cut and not playing football in 2010.
The 5-foot-10 receiver will be a longer shot than even undrafted free agents he is joining the team with him for training camp. Though something tells me he will quickly become a favorite of Chiefs fans watching training camp in St. Joseph.
