The deadline for teams to tender a contract to their restricted free agents was yesterday around the NFL. The Kansas City Chiefs will not comment on a player until they sign the tender extended to them, but thanks to various points around the web, it appears we know where all 7 Chiefs RFAs stand.
First round level – LB Derrick Johnson ($2.621 million)
Second round level – QB Brodie Croyle ($1.759 million), LB Corey Mays ($1.759 million), G Ikechuku Ndukwe ($1.684 million), C Rudy Niswanger ($1.759 million), RT Ryan O’Callaghan ($1.759 million), S Jarrad Page ($1.759 million)
Two players were not extended tenders: OL Andy Alleman and RB Jackie Battle.
Fantastic job (as always) by the folks at Arrowhead Pride for keeping track of each tender as reports started to surface.
No real shocks here on either side of the tender line.
They could have given Johnson a first and third tender, but there was no need for that. If a team is willing to give up a first round pick for DJ, Scott Pioli would gladly take it. Otherwise they can have him back for another year at a reasonable number.
I can’t imagine any of the second round tenders will get much of a look-see around the league. Would Chan Gailey be interested in Croyle running his offense up in Buffalo? Probably not, but there is a severe lack of quarterbacks on the unrestricted market and the two are obviously familiar with each other.
