The Kansas City Chiefs have announced their seven inactive players for their game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. There aren’t any surprises on the list, with starting G Jon Asamoah and backup LB Nico Johnson the biggest — but expected — names.
G Jon Asamoah, DL Allen Bailey, QB Tyler Bray, WR Chad Hall, LB Nico Johnson, LB Josh Martin, S Bradley McDougald,
Johnson had already been ruled out on the Chiefs injury report, but Asamoah was officially questionable, leaving the door open for him to play. In his place, veteran Geoff Schwartz will start and shouldn’t limit what Andy Reid wants to do on offense.
The Chiefs had listed Bailey as questionable after he missed the week following the death of his father.
None of the other inactive players were on the injury report this week, which is good news for TE Travis Kelce and S Husain Abdullah, who were both questionable. They will be leaned on heavily this season even if they aren’t in the starting lineup.
QB Blaine Gabbert is active and will start with the Jaguars, despite dealing with a fracture in his thumb. That means Chad Henne will serve as the primary backup and former Kansas City signal caller Ricky Stanzi will be inactive.
