The Kansas City Chiefs return home Sunday, for what could be the final time this season, against the AFC South champion Indianapolis Colts.
Over their first seven games at Arrowhead, the Chiefs were favored each time and this weekend will be no different. Despite being favored every home game and putting up a record of 5-2, Andy Reid’s squad is just 2-5 against the spread. The Colts have fared better on the road, but barely, going 3-4 ATS on the road.
Both teams are fresh off easy wins with Kansas City destroying the Oakland Raiders on the road and Indianapolis taking out the Houston Texans at home, but the Chiefs are favored by seven points.
With just two games left in the regular season, it will be interesting to see if either playoff-bound team alters how they approach Sunday’s action. The Chiefs are likely locked into the fifth seed, but if they win out and the Denver Broncos lose either of their final games, they will jump all the way to the top spot. The Colts clinched the division, but could fight their way to the second seed.
Despite the chance that Indianapolis could see Kansas City again in the first round of the playoffs, will both teams pull out all the stops Sunday or hold back?
Just the idea of either team thinking about a future matchup makes me a little squirrely about getting near this game. But considering how much difficultly the Chiefs have had covering at home, I would take Andrew Luck and the seven points.
