Charles (DNP) Headlines Chiefs Injury Report

The Kansas City Chiefs first injury report for Sunday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys has less players than last week, but includes the team’s best player, Jamaal Charles.

The running back did not participate in Wednesday’s practice due to a quad bruise, but was clear in talking with reporters he was going to play this weekend.

“I wouldn’t miss this game for nothing,” Charles said after practice.

Even if he is just being held out as a precaution, it makes you wonder why the same steps weren’t taken in the win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. With Charles clearly hurt and the game in hand, Andy Reid chose to send his running back in for two ineffective snaps.

While Charles is a new addition to the injury report this week, the rest of the six players included before the Jaguars game. Though there is good news with those players, specifically Jon Asamoah, who was a full participant after sitting out all last week.

The Chiefs also got Nico Johnson back to practice. The rookie linebacker was the only Kansas City player ruled out last week before kickoff.

Of the six players on the Chiefs first injury report of the week other than Charles, rookie Travis Kelce was the only one limited. The tight end is dealing with a knee injury that didn’t prevent him from dressing for the win over Jacksonville, but did keep him off the field.

It’s important to note the players not included on the report. DE Allen Bailey, S Quintin Demps, OT Eric Fisher, LB James-Michael Johnson and CB Sean Smith were all removed after being on the final injury report last weekend.

WR Dez Bryant and QB Tony Romo were both on the Dallas Cowboys injury report, but were able to fully participate in practice. Unless one of them suffers a significant setback, they will both be on the field Sunday.
