After going undrafted and then unsigned through most of training camp, former Missouri WR Danario Alexander has found a new team.
The St. Louis Rams signed free agent wide receiver Danario Alexander and released wide receiver Brooks Foster, the team announced Sunday.
Alexander (6-5, 221) was an All-Big 12 performer at the University of Missouri last season after catching 113 passes for 1,781 yards and 14 touchdowns. He led all Football Bowl Subdivision players in receiving yards in 2009. In four seasons with the Tigers, Alexander posted 191 receptions for 2,778 yards and 22 touchdowns.
The Chiefs never expressed interest in Alexander, so it’s hard to get too upset that he’s going across the state to the Rams. For a while I was campaigning for him to be given a shot over the likes of David Grimes or Rich Gunnell but it appears they have found a promising young wide receiver on their own in undrafted free agent Jeremy Horne.
It’s amazing that someone with Alexander’s skill set took this long to find a team, but he should get a nice long look from the Rams, even if it means spending time on the practice squad.
