The third time will be the charm for musician (and lifelong Chiefs fan) David Cook when he sings the National Anthem before the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Buffalo Bills.
He first had the honor a few years back for the home opener against the Oakland Raiders and then a second time on his 27th birthday during the 2009 season. Sunday’s performance will likely top both of those as Cook will be a part of a very special pre-game ceremony on the 10th anniversary of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.
Cook’s performance will have a back drop of a field-length American flag being held by Kansas City area first responders. That will be followed by a slow and low flyover from four A-10 Thunderbolt “tank busters”.
To make sure you catch what will no doubt be a very moving ceremony, the Chiefs are asking all fans to be in their seats 20 minutes before kickoff.
You can watch the last time he sang the National Anthem before a Chiefs game at Arrowhead here.
