Draft: Kansas City Chiefs Select Donald Washington, CB, Ohio State

And the Chiefs run on character guys ends with Donald Washington, CB, OSU. Washington was suspended the first two games of this past season for violating team rules.

Scouts Inc. assigned a rating of 75 to Washington and ranked him the 10th best CB.

ESPN.com’s analysis:

Washington possess a good blend of size and top-end speed. Although he could stand to add a couple more pounds to his frame he’s fluid for a 6-foot corner. He shows good burst when wideouts catch the ball in front of him but doesn’t make enough big plays, and there is a some character baggage here.

I’m not sure what to make of this pick.  Washington has good size at 6-0/200 and ran a solid, yet unspectacular 4.49 (tied for 7th among corners) at the combine but he doesn’t seem to fit the mold that Scott Pioli and Todd Haley have talked about.  He is generally thought of as more of an elite athlete with big upside as opposed to just a football player.  It’s hard to get too upset over a 4th round selection, but this seems more like the type of pick the Raiders would make.  My other question of this pick would be: Where’s the help for the offensive line?
