During a lockout, NFL players are barred from all team facilities and functions. Kansas City Chiefs safety Eric Berry will be disregarding that next Thursday when he visits the Founder’s Club at Arrowhead Stadium to take part in a charity event for Big Brothers, Big Sisters.
Sure, the $300 per ticket “Man 2 Man” event isn’t run by the Chiefs, but as far as I can tell this will be the first time any player has been at Arrowhead Stadium since the lockout started on March 11.
Kansas City head coach Todd Haley was worried about saying anything more than “congratulations” to Berry and Jamaal Charles at the 101 Awards last month and that was before the lockout. That event was also not NFL-run, thus why players were allowed to attend at all.
For your generous ticket purchase, you will not only get to meet Berry, but also enjoy a cigar emporium, specialty drink tastings and dinner. Oh, and a locker room tour, something that the Chiefs rookie of the year likely will not be able to take part in.
