Lockout or not, Eric Berry and the rest of the Kansas City Chiefs will gain a handful of new teammates at next month’s NFL Draft. Berry, however, will be working with five rookies on new marketing campaigns for adidas.
[Boise State WR] Titus Young, Nebraska defensive back Prince Amukamara, Oklahoma running back DeMarco Murray, Notre Dame tight end Kyle Rudolph and Troy wide receiver Jerrel Jernigan.
The five will be featured in adidas’ marketing efforts and will wear company gear on the field along with Eric Berry of the Kansas City Chiefs, C.J. Spiller of the Buffalo Bills, Reggie Bush of the New Orleans Saints, Mario Williams of the Houston Texans and Lawrence Timmons of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Good to see Berry leading the way for a shoe company with much more recognizable names like Bush and Williams.
It’s possible that Berry will end up seeing a lot of Young or Jernigan if the Chiefs decide to go with a wide receiver early in April’s draft. If Scott Pioli stays on the defensive side of the ball with the 21st overall pick, both guys are options in the second round for Kansas City since you likely won’t get another shot at them without trading for additional picks.
As for the other three prospects? Amukamara has top 10 talent and will be long gone by the time the Chiefs pick in the first round and neither Murray or Rudolph fill a need right now.
