Eric Berry Visiting Kansas City

Kansas City Chiefs GM Scott Pioli might not be a fan of using a high pick on a safety, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t want to get a closer look at the best one available.

University of Tennessee top-ranked safety Eric Berry is scheduled to visit the Cleveland Browns, Kansas City Chiefs, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Philadelphia Eagles, according to an NFL source with knowledge of the situation.

The consensus All-American selection won the Jim Thorpe award as the nation’s top defensive back.

At the NFL scouting combine, Berry ran in the 4.4s in the 40-yard dash.  He also bench pressed 225 pounds 19 times.

Berry suffered a minor sprained toe at his campus Pro Day workout, but it wasn’t serious at all.

The Chiefs, Browns and Bucs are all in the top 7 with Cleveland likely being Berry’s “floor” in the draft.  So it’s interesting to see he will be paying a visit to Philadelphia.  They don’t have their first selection until No. 24, though they do have two third round picks to work with when it comes to trades.
