Fantasy: Jamaal Charles Is A Sleeper

With fantasy football drafts wrapping up, Yahoo! Sports sees Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles as a sleeper this season.  Brandon Funston talks about Charles’ “extra gear that Larry Johnson doesn’t have”.

In most 10 team leagues, you can probably pick up Charles up as a free agent after the draft.  Any leagues 12 or 14 deep he’s still a late round pick, but no one you will have to reach for.

I’ve been very clear about how important Charles will be to the Chiefs offense this season.  His speed makes him a threat to take the ball to the house every time he’s on the field and as I talked about in this week’s Red & Gold Report, we are finally seeing Charles break some tackles.  The only thing you really need to watch is his propensity for putting the ball on the carpet.  Todd Haley will not keep throwing Charles on the field if he’s turning the ball over.

Make sure you take a long look at Charles if you are in a keeper league, because he could be a top tier running back next season once the Scott Pioli retools the offensive line
