Heading into Monday night’s game between the Chiefs and Steelers, it was hard to find anyone that thought Kansas City could win, let along be competitive. This was evident in Las Vegas, where oddsmakers had the Chiefs as one of the biggest underdogs we’ve seen this season.
We had no problem laying the 12.5 points for the game here and boxer Floyd Mayweather gave the Chiefs 7.5 in the first half. Money Mayweather obviously rolls much deeper than we do, considering he bet $50,000 to win a shade under $46,000.
With the Chiefs taking the Steelers to overtime before falling 13-10, Mayweather and most of gamblers lost big. A game that had the makings of a blowout of epic proportions thanks to former Kansas City head coach Todd Haley looking for a level of revenge just turned into a tight, sloppy game in the rain.
Hopefully if you bet against your favorite team, you didn’t put up the kind of money Mayweather did. But you shouldn’t feel too bad for the boxer, since just hours later he won $142,000 on a Gonzaga basketball game!
