Shortly after Scott Pioli selected Ole Miss safety Kendrick Lewis in the fifth round, Kansas City Chiefs fans started to learn of his amazing story. For those of you that don’t know, Lewis is a native of the New Orleans area and like many in the area was forced to relocate after hurricane Katrina.
There was a fantastic story done on Lewis by CBS News when he finally found a new high school, and it shouldn’t be missed.
There were so many terrible stories about teams poaching players after the devastation of Katrina, it’s good to see a school like Gainesville get rewarded for doing the right thing.
It’s important that Lewis’ journey during high school is more than just a small note to the news that he was drafted.
