Two Chiefs Upgraded On Latest Injury Report

The Kansas City Chiefs injury report for Sunday’s game against the New York Giants is still longer than Andy Reid would like, but he was able to upgrade two key players on Thursday.

Starting cornerback Brandon Flowers and safety Kendrick Lewis were limited participants a day after they weren’t able to practice at all on Wednesday. Flowers fought through a knee injury to play last week, but was forced out late in the game. Lewis hurt his ankle this week and his ability to get back out on the practice field already is a huge positive.

For all the problems the Giants have had — and continue to have, especially on the offensive line — they still come in with a group of wide receivers that can quickly cut up a defense. If defensive coordinator Bob Sutton doesn’t have Flowers and/or Lewis, it could mean a lot of Victor Cruz salsa-ing.

The rest of the Chiefs injury report Thursday looked the same as Wednesday. Fullback Anthony Sherman and LB Frank Zombo were full participants.  Left tackle Branden Albert and defensive end Mike Devito were limited, which bodes will for both players lining up on Sunday.

Both of the top two tight ends continue to sit out as Anthony Fasano rehabs an ankle injury and rookie Travis Kelce deals with a sore knee. Also missing practice again was starting guard Jeff Allen, who looks like a long shot to play against the Giants thanks to a groin strain suffered against the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Giants are dealing with an injury report larger than the Chiefs and Thursday downgraded cornerback Terrell Thomas, who had been limited but was unable to practice.
